Two Sugar Land, Tx area sheriff deputies are scheduled to be honored for saving the life of a man who fled the scene of an local traffic accident.Deputies Taylor Rollins and Jeff Martinez of the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office are set to be presented with life-saving medals by Chief Deputy Craig Brady and Sheriff Milton Wright.On Thursday, March 25, the presentation is scheduled to take place at 9:00 a.m.The presentation is set to take place in the grand hall of the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, located at 1410 Williams Way Blvd.A driver fled the scene of a traffic stop and drove into the Pecan Grove subdivision earlier this year, on January 27.The man struck a residence in the 1900 block of Rock Fence Drive after losing control of his vehicle.The vehicle became engulfed in flames after coming to rest at the foot of an oak tree.With his clothes on fire, the driver was knocked unconscious, as Rollins and Martinez made several attempts to rescue him from the vehicle.One of the responding deputies discharged his firearm into the window in a final attempt, causing it to shatter, allowing the deputies to cut the driver’s seat belt and rescue the man from the burning vehicle.The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office is located in the Sugar Land area, by amazing communities like Greatwood and New Territory.Source: hcnonline.com
