Driving through Telfair, Sugar Land, Tx residents and visitors may notice a large construction project taking place along New Territory Blvd. This construction site is home to an innovative 9,545 sq. ft. community center building planned to open in the fall, the future Telfair Central Hall.Telfair Central Hall takes some design inspiration from the historic 1939 Central State Farm building next door, which was turned into the museum’s new home last fall, as the artist’s rendering shows. Telfair Central Hall is set to have its own special 21st century style, with large expanses of glass creating an open, contemporary look, while it pays homage to the older building’s detailed red brick exterior.A large multipurpose room is set to accommodate the biggest events and activities, while six smaller rooms can have a variety of different activities at once. In order to create three intermediate-sized spaces, each of the smaller rooms can be combined with the adjoining room. The spacious, angled glass-enclosed corridor running the length of the meeting wing is designed to encourage socializing among attendees of different events and to provide pre-meeting space. The majority of the meeting rooms have views of the main lake at Telfair, and the large room has doors that open to a patio. Also, Telfair Central Hall is set to be highly energy efficient, designed and built to standards that will make it eligible for LEED certification, while it has many glass-enclosed expanses. The site is set to include a canoe launch, three tennis courts and an access-controlled parking area for residents only as well. Telfair Central Hall is set to join the Telfair Central Pool complex, which opened last summer to provide residents with a water park experience, when it is completed.Telfair Central, together with the museum and a future retail site, will soon be completed as a thriving, community-oriented complex in the heart of Telfair.Source: telfair.com
