Sugar Land EGGstravaganza Set for March 27

Children up to age 12, youth with special needs, will have an opportunity to take part in the fun, when the city of Sugar Land, Tx hosts its yearly EGGstravaganza.In its 26th year, the yearly celebration is scheduled to be held on Sunday, March 27, from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., at Eldridge Park, located at 2511 Eldridge Road, in Sugar Land.City parks and recreation staff members are again hosting a special needs egg scramble during the annual event, following a successful launch in 2009.Including 16 special needs children, last year’s EGGstravaganza attracted an estimated crowd of 5,000.The egg scramble includes a hay bale course with eggs hidden at accessible heights for children in wheelchairs and beeping eggs for visually-impaired children.Department staff consulted with representatives from the Texas Association for Parents of Children with Visual Impairments and The Arc of Fort Bend, to launch the event.During the event, egg scrambles are set to be scheduled every 30 minutes, based on a range of age groups, with egg scrambles for special needs and children 4 and under held throughout the day.With free photos for the first 200 children, the Easter Bunny is slated to make an appearance.Also, the three-hour event is set to include games, music and competitions with DJ Tyler, a petting zoo, tattoos and hair color station manned by Snip-Its of Sugar Land.A human trash can, Recycle Ben, is set to make the rounds to educate event goers on the benefits of recycling.Also, a number of local Sugar Land community and business groups are scheduled to be on hand.Members of the Sugar Land Lion’s Club are set to be on hand to sell treats and drinks under the park pavilion.According to coordinators, public parking will be available at Eldridge Park, with overflow parking available at the Cornerstone Church parking lot, next to the park.Feel free to call the city of Sugar Land parks and recreation department at 281-275-2885 for more information.Eldridge Park is located in Sugar Land, by luxurious communities like Sugar Creek and Sugar Lakes.Source: hcnonline.com
