Sugar Land Area Schools Fundraisers Benefit Haitian Earthquake Victims

Many student and employee groups from the Sugar Land, Tx area have done their part to provide aid to Haiti earthquake victims.Students and staff at Walker Station Elementary School donated over $3,500 through their “Hats Off to Haiti Day” and “Penny Power” fundraisers to support the charitable organization.Students and staff at Blue Ridge Elementary School raised over $650 through their “Change for Change” coin drive.Raised through their “Chain of Giving” fundraiser, Rosa Parks Elementary School donated a total of $450.As a result of its “Hearts for Haiti” fundraiser to benefit the Haitian Cultural Center, Travis High School raised $1,650. For $1, students bought paper hearts and wrote their names or brief messages on the hearts before putting them on a wall display in the school’s Commons area. Also, the high school joined forces with Dulles High School and Marshall High School in supporting Willowridge High School’s bottled water drive, which resulted in more than 30,000 bottles of water being collected for Haiti families.By donating $170 to the organization, a team of elementary school counselors supported the American Red Cross and a number of Fort Bend ISD schools donated money to support the American Red Cross Haiti Disaster Relief Fund.Dulles High School is located in Sugar Land, by tremendous neighborhoods like Sugar Mill and Sweetwater.Source: hcnonline.com
